Are All Your Eggs In One Basket?

Last week Facebook and Instagram broke and caused havoc for everyone. Did this get you second guessing your online marketing strategy?

Facebook and Instagram outage. Mark Zuckerberg Meme "Scared You Today, Didn't I". Looking at marketing strategy.

How did this affect you and your business? Did you miss messages from customers? Did you miss sales because of it?

I think the biggest lesson we can take from this is to not to have all your eggs in one basket.

Imagine the impact it would have on your business if both platforms disappeared for good. I know this is highly unlikely but can you imagine?

We know that algorithms are changing all the time and organic reach is decreasing so how can you utilise other marketing channels?

Do you have other marketing strategies you are using?

If you don’t you might want to consider some of the below

If you don’t have a website yet, I highly recommend that you have it on your list to sort out this year.

Your own website is your real estate, it belongs to you. While it’s not essential when you are just starting out, as you grow, it’s so important to have your own website. It’s builds the trust factor.

It means people can find you if they are looking for you directly. You can start to work on SEO and get your website ranked so it’s found on Google.

Email Marketing

Are you growing an email list? This is data that YOU own. Email Marketing is still a powerful way of keeping in touch with your prospects and customers.

Once you have an email address that’s opted in to receive emails from you, you can tell them all the exciting things you’re up to. They’re on your list because they want to be and they want to hear what YOU have to say.

Do you email your list on a regular basis?

If you do have an website, is it optimised for the search engines? Are you using keywords in your copy? Are you to linking internal pages and external sites? Do your images have alt tags? Are you adding meta descriptions?

You don’t have to be an expert to put basic SEO in place on your website.

Google Adwords

Have you tried to set up a Google Ads campaign? I only recommend this if you have the budget for it of course.

I’m seeing some amazing results for one of my clients. The team at Google are really helpful if you’re not sure how to set up your first campaign. There are also lots of resources available on their website.

Are you utilising the power of Pinterest to drive traffic to your website?
