How visualisation can help you grow in 2022

How visualisation can help you grow in 2022

Are you looking to achieve more this year? If so, it’s worth looking at how visualisation can help you grow, as it’s such a powerful tool to have in your arsenal. Visualisation is a powerful exercise that enables you to connect with what you want in your life and what you want your future to look like. By visualising the things you want, you’re taking the first steps to make it happen.

If you want to use visualisation effectively, you need to practice it regularly. The more you do it, the easier it will be, as it actively trains the brain and how the networks within it are organised. It helps create more connections, as, over time, your brain learns from your visualisations and looks to finetune your results and make them your new normal.

Make visualisation a multisensory experience

But if you want visualisation to work for you, you need to make it a really sensory experience. Add in your senses and not only see what you want, but also immerse yourself in the environment. Include how it smells, what it feels like to experience it and change your posture to someone who has achieved what you want to experience.

If you think about athletes, visualisation is a big part of their training. They visualise themselves competing in races. They see themselves crossing that finish link and coming first, and even holding the medal or trophy, over and over again. Not only do they see it, they feel it and effectively experience it.

An athlete trains their mind to believe what they visualise is possible and that it’s already happened. Their heart rate increases and their muscles even fire in the right order to act as if they’re actually completing the tasks within the visualisation.

Visualisation can help you grow as it boosts your confidence and motivation

The more you focus on what you want to happen, the more likely it is to happen. The more you believe it will happen, the more you’ll notice opportunities for it to happen. Visualisation is a great confidence and motivational booster, as it ramps up your levels of positivity and success.

You don’t have to wait for results, as you already see yourself achieving them and know how that feels. You’re more open to seeing the potential and positive results around you. Your awareness focuses on things that will help you achieve your desired end goal. When you focus on the end result rather than an exact way of achieving it, you’re also more open to out of the box thinking, along with creative ways to reach the same result.

Visualising helps reduce stress and anxiety

Visualisation helps you practise success, so it doesn’t feel new and uncertain for you. This reduces the associated stress and overwhelm you may feel around reaching your goals during the year.

It’s a great way to minimise anxiety around stretching your comfort zone and taking risks. You can focus on the individual steps you need to take to grow and practise feeling calm and certain of yourself along the way. And when you’re more certain about reaching your desired result, the risks involved don’t feel quite so risky!
